Landratsamt Ortenaukreis - Municipal Enterprise "Waste Management" - Information: 0781 805-9600

In the Ortenau district, garbage has to be separated as follows:

Grey garbage can

Residual waste

All non-recyclable waste such as dust, rubbish, ashes, light bulbs, china and earthenware, soiled paper, wallpaper, hygienic products, etc.

Green garbage can

Paper

All paper and paperboard materials (including those with the Green Dot); for example cardboard boxes, paper bags, packing and gift-wrapping paper, writing-paper, newspapers, magazines, books, exercise-books etc.

Yellow bag *

Light packaging materials

For example tins and beverage cans, caps, aluminium covers, aluminium trays and aluminium foils, plastic bottles and plastic boxes, pots for milk products, plastic foils and bags, polystyrene, blister packs, composite materials such as beverage and milk cartons etc. Everything should be cleaned.

Bottle bank

Glass

White glass               Brown glass               Green glass

All non-returnable bottles and glass jars. They should be empty and without cap. Put them into the bottle bank after having sorted them according to colour: white, brown and green. Earthenware, china and the like must never be put into the bottle bank! This refuse goes into the grey garbage can.

Attention: There are separate collections for green waste, bulky refuse, and polluting materials!

In some towns and municipalities, there are containers for used batteries, textiles and corks.

* It is not permitted to use yellow bags for other purposes!
